Peptides are the biggest rage in anti-aging skin care, however due to their high cost, the effects of most peptide creams are minimal because they lack the proper amount of ingredients. Since our skin consists mostly of collagen, that which gives it suppleness and support, as we age we lose collagen and our skin becomes thin and wrinkled. Collagen is a protein in the flesh and connective tissues. It is the main component of connective tissue, and is the most abundant protein, making up about 25% to 35% of the whole-body protein content. Collagen, in the form of elongated fibrils, is mostly found in fibrous tissues such as tendon, ligament and skin - the fibroblast is the most common cell which creates collagen. Fibroblast is a type of cell that synthesizes the extracellular "matrix" and collagen. The main function of fibroblasts is to maintain the structural integrity of connective tissues by continuously secreting precursors of the extracellular matrix. Fibroblasts secrete the precursors of all the components of the extracellular matrix, primarily the ground substance and a variety of fibers.
