Schizophrenia was named by the Swiss psychiatrist Paul Eugen in 1910. The term comes from the Greek words "schizo" which means split and "phren" which means mind. Originally a Schizophrenic was a person who had different personalities at different the best way to describe these beliefs is the book "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". It is a book in which a man would suddenly change from a peaceful into a very aggressive person capable of extreme violence and committing criminal acts without remorse. In fact Dr. Jekyll did not know what Mr. Hyde had done and Mr. Hyde did not know what Mr. Jekyll had done. Two totally different men lived within one body.
